About me
My name is Daniel Friend, a father of two kids. I became a father for the first time at the age of 44. Having your first child is always a challenge, but doing it at such age has some added pros and cons. For me it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened in my life.
I never planed to become a father, but it happened anyway. So, I had to do my best and go for it, as many other men in the world. I felt unfit for the task, also like many other men. Fatherhood comes without a manual, and nobody gets a “Parenting License” the way you get a Driver’s License. Scary. But it is what it is. You have to learn by doing, and you learn by committing mistakes.
That’s why I wanted to start this blog. I want to share my experiences and insights as an evolving father. It might help someone else in the same journey, and I can receive feedback from them. We can learn and profit from each other’s fails and wins.
Also I came to the realization that I was just a consumer in the Internet, extracting what I need without adding any value on my side. This is me trying to add something to the digital world. Also, all the pictures here are taken by me.
Most posts are written by me, and you must consider them opinion articles. But I tend to base my opinions not only in my experience, but also in research that I will reference and you can check for yourself. Some posts are also written by my wife, who has a lot to say about motherhood. Not only is she an amazing mother but also an accomplished academic, two very difficult goals to combine.
I hope you find anything of value among my posts. Feel free to leave your comments or ask me anything. Thanks for reading!
